HOLIDAY NEWS BLAST

What’s up internet? I just thought I’d post some news from the Coalition.. First off the Black Friday fundraiser went well, with some great performances and a good turn out. Thank you to everyone who came.. thanks to you we have raised enough to get us started on this High Grade Artistry movement. That’s right, its not an album, or a tour.. It’s a movement..

NVRLSTBikeShopFlyer_webNext up, our man Wills the bike whisperer has just opened a bike shop downtown at 3 South Broad. It’s open Saturday and Wednesday from 10-4. It’s a great place to get a refurbished bike for really cheap, and all proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club. Plus, if you bring your bike in and ask for the “Internet Special” he will give you a free tune-up! (Wills: “I will?” Graham: “No, you Wills!”)

In other news our last gallery opening of the year is coming up.. its called ART HAMMER and we’re putting it together with photographer Ricardo Barros. It’s all about street art photography. More info TBA. Don’t miss it… this may be our last show at 219 for a long time.

We’re also putting together a gallery soup kitchen event around Christmas. It’s kind of early to announce but we could use some volunteers. If you’re interested in donating canned/non-perishable food or clothing, or if you are free on Dec. 21st around lunch time to help serve, please contact us at sagecoalitionnj@gmail.com.

oh.. and one more thing

Wu Tang vs SAGE Coalition

ArtOfWuFlyerWebIt’s been over a year in the making.. a tribute to the Wu Tang Clan, featuring all mediums, visual, sound and more. Last month Kasso sent a wave through the underground with his massive Wu Tang mural, which landed on the official Wu website. You didn’t think he’d stop there did you? On Nov. 15th, we’re bringing out Top Tier artists and Emcees from all over the coast, and word is, some very special guests.. for a night of Wu Tang inspired art. Its called the Art of Wu. Check out the full event info here »

Windows of Soul Continues.. to the Gates!!

storm-the-gates-flyer-webJoin us on October 5th and 6th for the next evolution of Windows of Soul. Turns out painting boarded up windows just wasn’t doing enough for us.. so we’re Storming the Gates!! Yes, one Sunday night we were biking through downtown, on our way to Rainbow Garden (the ONLY open restaurant in downtown Trenton on Sunday).. and all you could see were rows and rows of these bland metal roll-down gates. It was obvious what we had to do: put together a team of premier street artists from all over the country, and spray some soul onto these gates, Windows of Soul style. After months of planning, it’s finally happening. It’s gonna be a 2 part event, on October 5th and 6th, with a brand new pop-up gallery reception downtown, followed by a day of live art creation. I don’t mean to hype this up too much but.. I’m pretty sure nobody’s ever done this (legally) in any city.. These gates are literally going to be a Trenton exclusive. And in my opinion this may be the first interesting thing to happen in downtown Trenton since Washington boated over and Stormed the Hessians. Don’t miss it!! Read more about it here »

Windows of Soul 2!!

Join us this September 13th, 14th and 15th for Windows of Soul 2! Read all about it here »

The Aliens coming to East Hanover

Microsoft Word - Official Flyer.docxThe Aliens is a play by a new theatre group, Pulse Theatre Company. These guys are putting on a production right in our own Gandhi Garden for 3 straight days next weekend! To quote the official press release:

“Annie Baker’s The Aliens is a play about two angry young men who, despite their own difficult lives, decide to teach a lonely high school student everything they know. They help him break through his nervous shell and give him the courage to be his own man and even speak to girls. A play about struggle, drugs, love, and friendship, this production found its way into Downtown Trenton, produced by Pulse Theatre Company. The Aliens is to be performed on Labor Day Weekend at the Gandhi Garden, a new venue constructed out of a vacant lot on East Hanover Street by S.A.G.E. Coalition. True to its mission, Pulse aims to bring a beautiful work of theatre to an audience that appreciates passionate and intimate art.”

There you have it. We are excited to see what these guys can do. You’ll have 3 chances to see the play, on Saturday and Sunday and Monday, August 31st, Sept 1st and 2nd. Each showing starts at 6:30pm. Admission is free.
