What’s Happenin’

whats-happening-flyer-webSAGE and TAWA are teaming up to bring new local talent to the spotlight in this eye-opening opening exhibit. TAWA, which stands for Trenton Artists’ Workshop Association, is one of the oldest and largest arts organizations in Trenton. This month they’ve put us in touch with a group of aspiring artists who will be displaying their work, many for the first time, at our gallery. The show is guest curated by world renown Mercer County artist Mel Leipzig. Leipzig is well known for his paintings and also for his teaching. He recently retired after 45 years as a professor of fine art at Mercer County Community College, where he had a reputation for supporting young talent. Dan Aubrey of US1 News once said of him “This guy will drive through a snowstorm to go to a student’s opening to show them they are supported.” Its a great honor to have Mel helping us hang this show, and I think we can definitely put some new artists on the map. The opening will feature Live spoken word, DJ ItsJustAhmad on the Ones and Twos, and soul food by Uncle Al Green.
